在爵士小喇叭手路易斯.阿姆斯壯 (Louis Armstrong) 去世17年後，1987年「早安！越南 (Good Morning, Vietnam)」這部電影選用這What a wonderful world當電影主題曲，讓新一代的年輕人重新認識這個爵士樂先驅，迴腸盪氣感人依舊，不因時光的消逝而掩蓋作品的光彩。
路易斯阿姆斯壯生於1901年的紐奧良，沒有爸爸，母親為家計下海當應召女，家境非常貧窮。他的一生恰逢時局最動盪的第一、二次世界大戰、種族隔離政策、南方三K黨及私刑的威脅。1968年他灌錄這首What a wonderful world後，曾有人問他：「嘿！老爹啊，你讚嘆『多美好的世界啊』是什麼意思？你難道不知道各地戰火遍野嗎？難道你說戰火遍野的世界是美好的嗎？再說，飢餓跟污染呢？這些也不美好啊！」
路易斯阿姆斯壯回答：「這世界的確很糟。其實，話說回來，這還不算是太糟的事。真正糟的是，已知道那樣做會很糟糕卻仍去做。」
他強調：「我所說得美好世界，是指我們應該多給予人們一點改善的機會，這秘訣就是『愛』。如果我們有更多的愛彼此關懷，就能解決更多問題。老兄啊，這世界會改頭換面的！」
路易斯阿姆斯壯回答：「這世界的確很糟。其實，話說回來，這還不算是太糟的事。真正糟的是，已知道那樣做會很糟糕卻仍去做。」
