Unforgivable Sinner
在位於北極圈以北的北極城市Tromso，一個十八歲的音樂奇才美少女-Lene Marlin，
在去年秋天，以一首甜美的流行歌曲Unforgivable Sinner，大大地搖撼了挪威的排行榜，
成為挪威有史以來銷售量最高、銷售速度最快的單曲！
甚至在99年的MTV歐洲音樂大獎中打敗The Cardigans，拿下「北歐最受歡迎藝人」獎！
宛如天籟的優美音質、專業的演唱技巧、甜美的外表以及詞曲創作的超高水準，
為Lene Marlin贏得了一紙珍貴的唱片合約。
相較於一般流行樂的偶像女歌手，承襲自斯堪地那維亞的流行樂創作力，
以及擁有對美國及歐洲大陸的詞曲創作傳統的高度了解，
Lene表現出一派獨樹一格且與眾不同的特質。
《 Unforgivable Sinner 》，嚴格來說，是 Lene Marlin 問世的處女作。
它在她十八歲生日的前兩天以單曲的形式發行----
這也就是為什麼她常常說「上一次出唱片是十七歲」----
並且很快席捲了挪威當地以及幾個海外市場的單曲排行榜。
這首歌在台灣也算老朋友了，電台放到爛，並且成為琳恩瑪蓮的代表曲。
這首歌吉他音用得很重，但是又有技巧在混音上力求乾淨簡潔，
除了製造節奏感的重音，沒有過度使用吉他以外蕪雜的樂器，
使得這首旋律強烈的歌，自始至終都保持「聲主樂從」，沒讓混音淹了她的歌聲，令人印象深刻。
相較於歌曲旋律的清晰流暢，《 Unforgivable Sinner 》的歌詞卻相當神秘難測，
聽眾只能隱約確定這是一名女子向一名男子的控訴，
但是在控訴什麼事就實在有夠難猜，
甚至這唱歌的第一人稱似乎也不是苦主，而是代人進行道德指責。
它一下子像是某人把女兒賣入火坑，掙扎悔恨卻已無濟於事，
一下子又像擄人勒贖，撕票後良心不安、夜半難眠的恐怖故事；
而 Lene 在這樣的構圖中，忽而像是神遣的天使，吟唱眾神的無聲之怒，
忽而又宛若化身被撕的肉票幽靈，站在遠處無言地指責罪行。
她果然是把故事加密的箇中好手，
這的確是連當事人都猜不到在指涉他的隱晦歌詞。
第二版MV中 Lene 消瘦少女小臉怪的外型依舊，
不過導演技巧性地利用不少仰攝，相當程度掩飾她過度瘦弱、發育不全的身材。
全身黑裝的她再度展現冷而不豔的奇特性；
許多彈吉他的特寫鏡頭則讓聽眾充分目睹她的吉他功力。
然而這一版的 mv 除了具有極簡主義的質感，以及酷帥得可以的男主角以外，
我認為最珍貴的是它讓聽眾窺見另一種投注於音樂的 Lene Marlin ：
第一版的她充滿生命力，第二版的她卻是一派自在，陶醉在自我的彈奏裡，
不需要用力地詮釋、發洩或表達什麼，就只是在那兒彈奏。
這是相當具有代表性的 Lene Marlin 。
